AUSTRIAN GP 16/8/2020

Exactly one week after the Czech GP, here we are, ready to compete in the Red Bull Ring, in Spielberg. Well, “compete” is not the right word as my riders both took a day off to see the race as spectators. But today I prefer not to talk about it.

I don’t have anything else to say if not this: “What a crazy Sunday!”
Such huge accidents, so horrible to see, dangerous, with no one to cry, this is incredible. Some will call it a miracle, others just luck, it doesn’t matter from which side you’ll watch the destiny, as a professor at his blackboard, it drew the dynamic of a potential catastrophe leaving some space for our imagination. For our open mouths, our eyes closed for the fear in that fatidic moment and our sigh of relief. This Sunday, destiny just showed us what could have happened, to remind us that: “I am the one who decides, but today is not the day to collect”.

Now I would like to focus on something I consider very serious but it seems that NOBODY cares. Speakers, journalists… the concrete next to the asphalt COMPROMISE THE RESULT OF ALL THE RACES: Moto2, Moto3 and MotoGP!!! I always said that and I will keep saying it to death. We’re not watching real races anymore, they seem like the virtual ones at the playstation, where if a rider goes outside the track he can easily rienter, overtake riders and maybe even win. Why not play online without risking your life? You’ll may earn even more. Please, tell me, what advantages has a rider that never mistake? NONE! Nowadays it is not the best rider, the one who wins, but the smartest one that goes on the green zone cheating the rules. How is it possible to make the difference? In the name of safety, they gave to the riders the chance to enter the turn faster and always risking. Everyone is braking crazy to death “no problem, if I’ll exit the asphalt I can enter again”. NO! We can watch those scenes even in MotoGP, as you could see on Sunday at the start.
I strongly believe this is the moment to stop this and to change the rules; they could take off the concrete and replace it with gravel again, or they could give MORE SEVERE PENALTIES. I hope Carmelo Ezpeleta will hear my request, because it seems like the federation’s commission is not able to notice this problem.
