A Sunday of important crashes, of mistakes, of bad luck, where it seems nobody cares about the classyfy, no one wants to win this crazy championship and while Suzuki was guest at Sky TV in Milan with a broken arm, we were able to catch some points with Antonelli in 9th position.
The craziest, most curios and even a little sweet thing of the weekend? Niccolò that between Q1 and Q2 exclaimed: “I would have never thought that, but I’m missing Tatsu!”. I immediately answered: “What??” (Sometimes I pretend) I’m a little deaf in one ear. I wasn’t sure I heard it correctly, and in a while I had a flashback: box 2018, Nicco and Tatsu mates for the first time, they didn’t even say hi to each other, they had dinner together with the team just because they had to. I remember an interview where I said something like: “Two riders can start from apart, they’ll eventually hate each other at the beginning, but if they are great riders, it will end they will work together and help each other”. It is impressive how relationships change and sometimes, luckily, for the best.
Josito Garcia did a good job, closing the Q1 less than 1thenth far from Q2 and Niccolò Antonelli was finally back, qualifying with the 6th lap-time, starting from the second row: our expectations were high. As high as our spirit, until Sunday, until three laps to go. Josè after a bad start hit a rider crashing on the gravel, while Niccolò after a great race following the leading group, with the podium in his hands, made a mistake, a huge one, and all our hopes flyed away with him back to the 9th place.
I don’t know what to say. We were there, the tiger was back and he was fighting in the front. What a pity! Of course we won’t make this mistake any bigger than it really is, he remains him and all the amazing things done remains written. Now he have to make treasure of what happened and learn, and maybe grow.
The CEV is just around the corner, the team is already leaving, road to Aragon.
