THAILANDIA GP 07/10/18

To discover the Thai hinterland we preferred five hours by car rather then a charter flight to the circuit. A voyage in the middle of poverty, in between people proud of their origins, beautiful and kind people offering all that little they have. A voyage that makes you reflect on how superfluous are for us some precious goods and that maybe, in our gold world, we’re doing something wrong.
There has been a big turnout, so many passionate people: great choice for Dorna to come here.
After the alternation of very good lap-times during the practices, on Sunday we nullified everything right after few lapses of the race.
In a track where you can’t make the difference because of the long straights, the race turned quickly into a bullfight with lots of contacts and crashes. What every team never wants to happen, it happened to us. No team manager would ever comment this unpleasant inconvenience: Suzuki and Antonelli, maybe because of a little bit of impetuosity of the first one, they touched each other crashing. That’s a peaty, we could have done a good race, we were in great positions. I was able to deviate the problem of rivalry between crew-chief and riders taking just Marco Grana who splits well between the two riders and who does a good job. But the riders are still two, with two personalities, two heads and two different characters. History is full of those accidents which make anger to come out, which create internal divergences leaving bitterness; and lots more are going to happen and when it will be the moment, it will be necessary to avoid hot statements.
We go home a little bit disillusioned by this hot trip, hot from few different points of view, but we’ll fly off to Japan with a lot of enthusiasm and to put an end to this adverse time.
