Qatar 18/03/18

After a winter full of new projects, thoughts and expectations, we left this cold Italy to fly off to Qatar, ready for a new adventure.

The result? Antonelli crashed in the FP1 and Tatsuki, after entering the track for a last lap in relax, found Sasaki and trying to show who “the king” is, he broke his right wrist. Great beginning; no more dreams for Tatsu’s race, just few insults from me. Heads and abilities must work together at this level.

No good expectations on this weekend, but thanks to the tenacity of Antonelli, who’s working great with the team, who never quits and improves the trust in himself every day, we ended this journey in an almost perfect way, just 0,46 tenths from the podium. Also the pole position of Nicco made me almost cry: the first pole for our team in the world championship, full of memories. Even if nobody shows it, closing in first position is always the goal and when it’s not possible we use to say: “it’s ok because we did our best”. I’m proud of this result, we demonstrated we’re not a “second-row team”.

Nicco’s race was tough. Groups of riders with different aims: Nicco was trying to catch Martin but he was blocked by other riders who passed him every time in the straight, so he couldn’t do it. A bittersweet feeling for the missed podium but thanks to Nicco we lived a weekend as protagonists. I’m just sorry for Tatsu who will spend two weeks in between physiotherapy and rehabilitation to get ready for the next race.

We’re a young team with four debutantes in the world championship. I’m curious and confident in their capacity and professionalism and they will show them race by race.

I’m so proud to announce we will join the new Dorna’s project: the electric bikes. There will be 20 bikes with moto3, moto2 and MotoGP teams, racing together before the Moto3 race every GP. So here I am, searching for new sponsors and a new rider!!

While waiting for the Argentina GP, I left yesterday for the Junior World Championship: I need to control the other half of my team, with Bertelle, MaoMao, Falzone, Montella and Ieraci with all the parents. There’s a lot of work to do!
