BRNO’ GP 05/08/18

There was a chance that I wouldn’t be able to write this press release… Yesterday morning my daughter just showed up in the kitchen even if she was supposed to be still in Australia, I almost had a stroke. All of a sudden the thoughts about the race weekend, the troubles, the 1.000km driving back from Brno and the 600Km left to go to Spielberg… it all disappeared. I was just happy to be home and hug my daughter. Human beings are not supposed to bare in mind bad memories as they just blow away when you are happy to see someone you missed. It is a wave of good feelings and joy. Amazing!
It’s also been 10 months since Tatsu started last on the grid. It happened in Misano 2017 due to a penalty. This time he crashes on Saturday at the first corner, the bike was destroyed and he couldn’t qualify himself. This is one more thing to add at the list of the “things not to do”: not giving full throttle before being a bit careful. We should be almost done with all the things that shouldn’t be done.
Saturday was a complicated day for Antonelli as well, who made his best lap right after the checkered flag. These are circumstances that can drive you mad because we have two strong riders who are not aware of their skills. Due to his starting position, Tatsu had to make several overtakes with his elbows well open, maybe… a bit too much.
Nevertheless, in the last 5 laps he began to think to a strategy on what was better to do or not to do and this made him loose concentration finishing the race 14th, after being even 7th. Anyway, he made a good job!
As regards Antonelli, he finished 11th starting 9th on the grid. I have to say I am satisfied with him. He is going though a rough path after he injured his shoulder. He is very fast, he only needs to realize it and get rid of his doubts. After the race he got back to the garage a bit angry with Tatsu for his elbows a bit too much open, as mentioned above. My role gets complicated here… handle two fast team mates is not easy and the risk is to line up. All I say is that I hope to deal soon with a rider complaining for Antonelli aggressive style since it would mean that we are ready to fight for to title.
Now three days of resting to recharge the batteries and then off to Austria.
