5° round for CEV in a very hot Aragon.
A difficult race, high temperature (41°) and all it my five riders as debutant in each category.
Patacca, Bertelle and Hikaru closed respectively in 17th, 18th and 19th position and like this it could appear like a bad Sunday; instead, we’re getting conscious of our potentiality, we’re leaning, we’re growing race by race. Hikaru, after a great qualifying session, demonstrated he is constantly improving his performance, he just suffered the pressure of his Japanese sponsors. He had some difficulties on Sunday because he still doesn’t have a good pace as the others, but we have to remember he learned how to start in grid just three races ago, he needs and deserves a little bit of time.
Bertelle has a difficult moment, after two crashes in Mugello and Assen he lost 1,5 kilos; I’m not worried, he’s the kind of guy who, after a proper recovery, will be back physically and mentally as strong as before.
Finally also Patacca, after some disappointing performances, made a step forward, he now has more trust on his capacity after we worked together in something that would be too long to explain.
Let’s now talk about the ETC, I want to give my sincere compliments to the fierce 12 years old Volpi, who took a few races to understand it wasn’t ok to throw down the bike every single session, but today he closed the race in 10th position, he did a good race, he’s been amazing.
Falzone instead makes me think a lot, in a good way: he’s a very talented kid, he drives good but he’s not able to move from the 15th position, even if I’m sure he could! He needs to improve his breaking technique, maybe he has some trauma after a bad accident he had few years ago when his breaks didn’t work. If he’ll be able to fix this, he’ll become a pro.
I’m so happy about my team, I can see their commitment and their wish to learn and improve. Apart from a beginning of heartache of one mechanic and a crash on the stairs by one other, I would say “it’s all good what ends in a good way”…
Now I want to spend few days of relax with my wife before leaving for Brno to take our victory.. don’t worry, you can’t stop doing superstitious signals!!
