MOTEGI GP 06/10/24

What if I told you that the most memorable thing from this week was the bill at a delicious, authentic sushi restaurant in Tokyo, what would you think?
That the bill was expensive or that there is not much to say about the race?

Joking aside, two performances below expectations from both riders, as colourless as the weather that is distinguishing the start of this week in Italy. They started well, showing to be fast on both Friday and Saturday, driven partly by the enthusiasm from the Indonesian Gp and partly by some days of rest where we recharged our batteries in a serene environment.
Then something didn’t go as expected: despite the fact that Farioli took a step forward in his riding style and is improving, let’s not forget that they are both young riders, still a bit immature in some aspects. Lunetta had bad day…it happens!
I have to admit that it was nice to spend a few days with the team in unusual places, without the annoyance of some external people. You always discover something new about someone.

Something good happened: the World Champion title went to Alonso. Well, if we can’t have it, then I’m happy that he earned it. I wish him an amazing future because, beyond being a winner, he has something special, a “clean face”, which is hard to find in this environment.

In a flash, October is already here, with its many bittersweet memories. It feels like just yesterday that the Championship started. On Monday, we will be traveling to the beautiful Australia, with its spectacular landscapes, a country I particularly love. There’s an historic circuit, that has been the stage for many of our adventures and battles and for Marco’s last, unforgettable, podium. With his curly hair blowing in the wind and a big smile, someone once told me: “He didn’t know he was going to make history!”
