We’re putting out this flash press release, something we don’t usually do between two non-European races. Soon we will be wearing a kimono and Japanese wooden sandals…but it’s worth taking a moment to say a few words about this thrilling race.
Lunetta stunned everyone with a superb overtake, a move that gained him four places. A few know that he already did it once in the Cev. He was an active participant of a race against time, a clash of the titans. Eight riders, within just a few seconds of each other, battling for first place. In the end, Alonso took the victory in the final corner, while Lunetta finished 5th after doing everything possible to win. A 5th place without regrets!
Certainly, the winner was strong, but it cannot be said that the others were outdone. Sometimes, when there are so many riders so close to each other, it’s a matter of precision, making overtakes that fit the type of corner and finding space between elbows without making foolish mistakes. It depends on where the finish line is placed in relation to the final corner… but they were all skilful and clean, it looked like a dance. Do not forget that Lunetta is a Rookie, and being such a protagonist throughout the weekend is a really impressive calling card. On the Sky Sport Motogp page, the overtake gathered just a few views: 1,3 million against the 40/50 thousand views the other reels typically get. And we would like to boast about it a little, because MotoGp is always in the spotlight, with so much focus on this category but we must admit that Moto3 is also seeing some exciting developments. It delivers emotions that are not always, or not only, provided by Motogp.
Unfortunately, Farioli ended a weekend that had been positive until FP3, at the medical center. Luckily, he did not come out as badly as the bike did after a violent high side and a collision with another rider who was immediately behind him, which definitely scared us.
Well, I hope to brighten your day again next wednesday with a funny and upbeat press release, otherwise, you know well what my radio silence means.
Kind regards,
